Canadian Luthier studied guitar making in Vancouver with renowned guitarist Michael Dunn. He learned the techniques for making an old traditional guitar by hand, originally in 19th century in Spain. Blackwell's method was developed the internal structured bracing by merging between traditional style and modern style with improvements in every guitar-making process. This is why Blackwell guitars are consistent, standards and excellence.

Blackwell considers the balance of the guitar's sound as a priority. He creates guitars to have projection, colors and balance; depth and clarity; but they're still being loudness and clear harmonic notes.
